The SI engine is limited to 39% thermal efficiency whereas the SCCI engine inherently can go up to 67%, thus achieving nearly twice the thermal Carbon-fiber Monocoque structure with sandwiched sections to increase load capacity
The team reduced the chassis weight by efficiency than any engine available in the market. ~60% (71kgs to 30kg) and the drag coefficient is expected to drop to 0.31,without increasing weight, providing a surface area for proper load distribution
Hailing from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani campus we are a team of dedicated engineers and science majors who share a mutual love for automobiles and the environment and what better opportunity than Shell-Eco Marathon to showcase our zeal.
We aim to build the most fuel efficient vehicles with the most sustainable materials and make the planet a beautiful abode to live in. We have been active since 2012 and till now have won accolades both nationally and internationally. Additionally we boast of being the first Indian college team to build an Ethanol based car engine. We are constantly working to improve our game and give back to the community in every way possible which mostly includes being vocal about saving our planet Earth.
Shell Eco-Marathon is one of the world’s leading energy efficiency competition. Students are challenged to design, build and test energy efficient cars, pushing the boundaries of what is technically possible
The teams are provided with a plethora of energy sources to choose from broadly classified in Internal Combustion (IC) Engine and Electric Mobility Categories to achieve impressive results to modern-day vehicles.
Prototype: Drivers squeeze into aerodynamic vehicles, lying on their backs to steer around the track.
Urban Concept: Cars look more familiar to modern-day vehicles. Built to roadworthy specifications, their extra weight may make them less fuel-efficient than Prototype cars, but they are still able to achieve impressive results to modern-day vehicles.

With a carbon fiber monocoque manufactured in two pieces, the team is currently working to present the first Indian car to run on SCCI engine at Shell Eco Marathon 2022. The SI engine is limited to 39% thermal efficiency whereas the SCCI engine inherently has the ability to go up to 67%, thus achieving nearly twice the thermal efficiency than any engine available in the market!
This ultra light, single seater beauty comes with an in-house manufactured lithium-ion battery module with customized Battery thermal management system, improving the traditional efficiency of the available battery packs by manifold. With recognition from the Department of Science and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India, it’ll be launched on the tracks at Shell Eco Marathon 2022 under the Prototype category.
